I have a trade possibility for this gun…it’s a Ruger action and barrel, .270, $1000 vortex scope, the lower is $550 chassis…I k know zero about a gun of this style and don’t want to get screwed on my end of the trade…any ideas on value or how to look it up?

Custom rifles you can expect to get about 60% of the value you put in it. That’s a Ruger American action and barrel. Those are $550, approximately. The scope appears to be a Vortex PST II, which I know you could find cheaper then a grand, probably $700, and the chassis at $500. I’d be ball parking $1100 for the rig, tbh. No trigger upgrade? If it’s trade value, I’d do $1000.00. I know it might seem low, but a precision style rifle in a 270 win is also an odd combo. What do you plan on using it for, might I inquire?

I’d agree on the above value – If not a little less.

I would agree, but it’s important to note that IMO 60% is a RETAIL figure. As in what you might expect if you were selling the gun yourself or trading directly with another party.

If by trading, you mean trading it to a retail gun shop, your lucky to get 30-40%.

I agree , 270 is an odd chambering for that style of rifle and that will impact value. IMO, you would be doing very well at $1000.

Thanks guys- would really have no use for the gun so passed on the trade…I would have been getting the short end of the stick with the value you guys put on the gun anyway..

You should get $1000+ for one in good condition
